Paula Jean Merriam, 62 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, November 01, 2011. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Temple Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a family visitation at Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Paula was born on October 6, 1949 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Bud and Imajean Nolen. She was united in marriage to Carlton Ray Merriam on March 12, 1982 in Clovis, New Mexico. They have shared their life together in the Dumas community since 1985. They were coowners of CRM Trucking Company, and Paula took care of the administrative aspect of the business.
Paula was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was the Peacekeeper of the family. Paula was very talented, and enjoyed knitting and sewing various projects. She dearly loved her horses and her cat, Patches. She will be greatly missed by her family friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Imajean Nolen.
Paula is survived by her husband, Carlton Ray, of the home five sons, Robert Merriam and wife Amanda of Temple, TX, Brian Stokes and wife Lucy of Elk City, OK, Mickey Simpson and wife Kellie of Elk City, Jody Ray Merriam and wife Jana of Amarillo, and Carl Merriam Jr. of Amarillo one daughter, Kathy Patterson of McKinney, TX one daughterinlaw, Andi Lambert of Amarillo three brothers, Steve Nolen of Hot Springs, AK, Robert Nolen of Kansas City, MO, and Tommy Hughen of New York fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family will be at 1120 S. Bliss in Dumas.
