Phinias M. Moore, 94, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Graveside services will be at 9:00 AM, Friday, June 26, 2009 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Venable, his nephew officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Phinias Moore was born September 16, 1914 in Oklahoma to Sherman and Nellie Moore. As a baby the family moved to Quinton, Okla. in a covered wagon. He served in the US Army from 1934 to 1936. On July 13, 1936 he married Pauline Mooneyham and she preceded him in death in October 2002. He moved to Dumas in 1937 and went to work for M.Q. Beauchamp for several years. He then went to work for Diamond Shamrock as a contract welder and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Dumas Masonic Lodge 1009 since September 1942 and received his 65th year pin in 2008. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Moore liked to fly and was a pilot. He enjoyed hunting and gardening and his dog, Bitsy, was his constant companion. To all his friends and relatives he was called Uncle P. Survivors include; nephews, John Mooneyham of Sautee Nacoochee, GA, Jack M. Klock of San Marcos, CA. and Mike Venable of Dumas; nieces Paula Pitcher of Enid Okla and Judy Cox of Tucson, AZ; 7 great nieces and nephews; 9 great-great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Frankie Klock of Tucson, AZ; and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, PO Box 617, Dumas, TX. 79029 or to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
