Polly Terry, 78 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 oclock in the morning on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church in Sunray with Pastor Seth Seale officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 oclock to 8 oclock pm at the Beeson- Morrison Funeral Home in Dumas. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors. Polly was born on February 16, 1942, in Clovis, NM to Alton and Mary (Conklin) Monroe. She married Bruce Terry on October 2, 1960 in Hereford, TX. Polly and family moved to Dumas from Hereford, TX in February 1972. Polly worked as an office manager for Dumas Air Conditioning and Heating, Murphy Oldsmobile and Cole Ivy Auto. Polly was active in 4-H as a member and leader volunteer beginning 1951 to 2018 when her last grandchild graduated. From 1972 to 1985 she was a leader in Moore County 4-H where she was named Leader of the Year in 1974. In 1982, Polly was awarded the District 4-H Distinguished Adult Leader Award. In 1983, she earned the state 4-H Alumni of the Year. Polly, her daughters, and grandchildren made up three generations of 4-H Gold Star recipients. Polly was also proud to be an Eagle Scouts grandmother. Polly was a member of the Business and Professional Woman organization where she served as president. She devoted time to the Moore County Hospital District for the Auxiliary Volunteers and The Window on the Plains Museum. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, in 2008, her parents and brothers: Alvin Monroe and Alton Monroe Jr. Polly is survived by her brother: Alan Monroe and Donella of Huntsville, Al; her daughters: Paula Nusz of Stratford, TX; Connie Burton and Sherwin of Stratford, TX; Mary Ann Ely and Chad of Sunray, TX; grandchildren include: James Nusz and Jennifer of Midland, TX; Daniel Nusz and Katherine of Stratford, TX; Eric Burton and Megan of Dumas, TX; Rhyan Burton and Kallie of Stratford, TX; Garrett Ely of Sunray, TX; her only and most precious granddaughter Abby Ely of Sunray, TX; she was blessed with great-grandchildren: Matthew Nusz, Strattan and Remmi Burton. The family suggests with gratitude, memorials be made to Moore County 4-H Gold Star Scholarship, 310 East 1st St. Dumas, TX, 79029, Sherman County 4-H Gold Star Scholarship, P.O.
