Poune Daraphone, 80 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Phouvong Aaron Phangnivong officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Poune was born on February 1, 1932 in Laos. He married the love of his life, Lan Dankasy, in April of 1960 in Laos. Poune enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and he was always willing to help others in need. He retired from the Dumas Independent School District in 1997. Poune was a member of First Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Poune was preceded in death by his parents.
He was survived by his wife Lan of the home, five daughters Mun Souriwong of Thailand, Ourai Alice and Chaipet Jami Daraphone of Minnesota, Kamsai Daraphone of Dumas and Liang Daraphone of Amarillo, two sons Samai Daraphone of Arkansas and Saming Chad Daraphone of Dallas, fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will be at 209 N Birge in Dumas.
