R. Howard Naugle, 63, of Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon on Friday, February 10, 2017, at First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Ulrey, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Private burial will be in Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors of Stratford.
Robert Howard Naugle was born November 4, 1953, in Eads, CO, to Robert Lee and Ruth Hills Naugle and had been a resident of Stratford since 1967. On May 6, 1976, he married Valerie Duncan in Stratford, and was the owner of the family business, Duncan Chevrolet Dealership in Stratford at the time of his death.
He was active in his community and his church, First Christian Church, where he served as Deacon, Elder, Chairman of the Board, High School Youth Leader, and also taught Pre-K thru Elementary Sunday School. He also served as President of the Board for the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and was a volunteer coach for little league baseball and also basketball for his children's teams.
Howard was a generous supporter of The Sherman County Stock Show and also The Moore County Jr Livestock Show, as well as a faithful supporter of the Stratford Elks and the Dumas Demons. He also supported The Lollipop Junction Daycare in Stratford who lovingly cared for his grandchildren.
Howard's hobbies included golf, basketball, home remodeling and mechanics. He also was an excellent welder.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Valerie of the home; his children: daughter Keely Chumley and husband Rhea, of Dumas, daughter, Keisha Holland and husband Tommy, of Stratford, and son, Corey Naugle and wife Bailey, also of Stratford. Five grandchildren also survive: granddaughter Haskell Chumley of Dumas, grandson, Hudson Holland of Stratford, granddaughters: Bristol Naugle, Tessa Holland and Elliott Naugle, all of Stratford. Also surviving are one brother, Allen Naugle and wife Luanna, of Colorado and three sisters: Bobbie Lee Stogsdill and Billie Lafferty and husband Jim, all of Colorado and Janie Randall and husband Robert, of Stratford. His father and mother in law, Leonard and Martha Duncan of Stratford also survive along with several sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
