R. L. Robertson

R. L. Robertson 79 passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 8, 2007 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerald Chadwick, pastor of Central Baptist Church, Amarillo, TX, officiating, assisted by Rev. Dan Martin, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, Dalhart, TX. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. R.L. Robertson was born May 25, 1928 in Lakeview, TX to Edwin and Clara Robertson. On January 24, 1948 he married Nixie McDougal who preceded him in death on August 10, 2005. R.L. worked at American Zinc until it closed in 1971 and also did numerous concrete projects around Dumas for many years. He worked as a supervisor at Diamond Shamrock until his retirement. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1951 and was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Wayne Robertson on August 16, 2003, brothers, Derl and Bob Robertson and sister, Verna Nell Robertson. Survivors include; three daughters, Linda Hamlin of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, Glenna Rummel and husband, S.D. of Fritch, TX, Suzanne Roberts and husband, Glenn of Springfield, Virginia; son, Tim Robertson of Dumas; three brothers, Don Robertson and wife, Carol of Brownfield, TX, Doyle Robertson and wife, Carol of Frisco, TX, Tommy Robertson of Florida; sister, Pat Paschal of Irving, TX; sisters-in-law, Ruth Robertson of Lewisville, TX, Faye Robertson of Wichita, KS; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to David Wayne Robertson Chemistry Scholarship, co Stephen F. Austin University Alumni Association, PO Box 6096, Nacogdoches, TX 75962. The family will be at 704 Cedar in Dumas.
