Randall “Randy” Howard Sims, 69, of Sunray Texas passed for this world the morning of December 13th. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on December 16, 2023 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Randy was born June 27, 1954 in Pampa Texas to William Mickey “Bill” Sims and Christine LaVelle Rossmiller Sims. Randy was raised in Pampa with his three siblings where he attended and graduated Pampa High School in 1972. Randy was a proud Pampa Harvester. While in high school Randy played the tuba in the Pride of Pampa band and went on to become a member of the Goin’ Band from Raiderland at Texas Tech University. Randy graduated from Wayland Baptist University in 1997 with his Bachelors of Occupational Education/ Business Administration. Randy went on to get his Master of Educational Administration from West Texas A&M University in 2003. Growing up Randy’s family-owned Sims Electric which led Randy to obtaining his Master Electrical License. With both a Master in Education and a Master Electrical License Randy was one of few people who could teacher and certify future electricians.

Randy was an anchor in the family business, Sims Electric Co., opening a branch in Dumas. After the business closed, Randy worked for Dumas Independent School District as a maintenance electrician then as the electrical inspector during construction of the TDCJ unit in Dalhart.  When construction completed Randy was hired to work teaching electrical instructor for Windham School District at the TDCJ unit Dalhart. In 2008 Randy went to work for Amarillo College in Dumas teach various electrical related courses, wind and solar energy certification courses. Eventually Randy went to work for Pantera Energy until his retirement. 

Randy met the love of his life, Lonas Sue Wright, at a Christmas party in 1979 and married on June 14, 1980. They celebrated 43 years of marriage this past summer. Randy and Sue had a son, Ross Wright Sims, on September 28, 1990 and welcomed their daughter, Callie Christine Sims on September 2, 1991. 

Randy is preceded in death by his parents Bill and LeVelle Sims, in laws Moon and Lonas Wright, and sister in law, Judy Sims. Those left to carry on his memory are his beloved wife Sue, his children Ross and Callie, nephew Bryan Sims and wife Deawn and their sons Michael and Logan, cousin Jerry Sims and his wife Mary, siblings Greg and wife Nancy, Mickey Sims, and Sandra Boales. As well as brother in law Ed Wright and his wife Jeanie, and Terry Wright and his wife Terri and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
