Ray G. Anderson peacefully went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2009 in Dumas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Damon Akins, pastor of the church and Rev. Kevin Anderson, pastor of First Assembly of God, Stratford, officiating, assisted by Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired minister of Dumas. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Family visitation will be held at Morrison Funeral Directors on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM. Ray G. Anderson was born December 28, 1937 in Swanlake, Oklahoma to Claude and Irene Lindsey Anderson. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1947. On July 20, 1956 he married Patsy Taylor in Dumas. He retired from Natural Gas Pipeline Co. in 1992 after 29 years as a gas well tech. He was a driver for Texaco and Exxon wholesale fuel distributors for 22 years and enjoyed visiting with the farmers and ranchers. Ray loved his work at First State Bank as maintenance man and kept the yard immaculate. Ray was a devoted member of First Assembly of God Church and kept the grounds perfectly groomed for many years, until he was no longer physically able. Any maintenance inside or out-side the church was a priority for him. He served as Deacon and Asst. SecretaryTreasurer and greeted all who entered at every service. Ray was a devoted family man and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Lloyd Pledger. Survivors include; his wife, Patsy of the home; son, Kevin Anderson and wife Darla of Stratford; daughters, Renae Wehunt and husband, Weldon of Dumas, Kendra Akins and husband Kevin Earl of Geary, OK; sister, Betty Pledger of Lubbock; grandchildren, April Riley and husband Cory of Lubbock, Marla Wehunt of Amarillo, Leah Hill and husband, Andrew of Lubbock, Keith Akins and wife, Tina of Springfield, MO, Justin Wehunt and wife, Kristen of Dumas, Kristi Akins of Oklahoma City, OK, Wesley Anderson of Stratford; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Ramirez, Vanessa Akins and Jaron Hill; brothers-in-law, Allison Taylor and wife, Rae of Bethesda, MD and Royce Taylor and friend, Gloria of Seattle, WA; mother-in-law, Juanita Taylor of Dumas; numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to First Assembly of God Oasis, PO Box 764, Dumas, TX. 79029. The family will be at 201 Melinda Lane in Dumas.
