Ray E. Long, 73 of Dumas passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 6 o'clock in the evening until 8 o'clock on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ray was born on May 21, 1945 in Council Grove, KS to Ray Elmer Long Sr. and Ruth Janice Roberts. He attended school in Emporia, KS and graduated from Emporia High School. He honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. He married Pam in November of 1978 in Dumas and the couple would make their home in Dumas; she preceded him in death in 1998. Ray had worked at JBS Swift as a forklift operator and enjoyed drinking coffee with the Sheriff's Deputies. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Pam, he is preceded in death by his parents.
Ray is survived by his daughter: Jerri Janice 'J.J.' Clark of Dallas, TX; brothers and sisters: Lewis 'Ted' Long and wife Carolyn of Dumas, TX, Jim Long and wife Carlene of Dimmit, TX, Barbara McAlpine and husband Rick of Amarillo, TX, Robert 'Bobby' Long and wife Karen of Seminole, TX and Pauline White and husband Roy of Moore, OK.
The family will be at 1009 Phillips Dr.
