Refugio Ruth Diaz, 86 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. The Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Sts. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Dumas. Father Carlos Eduardo Castro of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stratford will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Stratford Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ruth was born on July 9, 1925 in Arizona to Manual and Guillerma Gonzalez Diaz. She spent her early childhood in Mexico, and eventually moved to Stratford, where she lived for several years. Most recently, she lived in Dumas, and was a resident of Dumas Nursing and Rehab. Ruth was a loving and devoted homemaker. She loved to spend her spare time knitting various projects. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stratford. She will be greatly missed by her family and the staff and residents of Dumas Nursing and Rehab.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters.
Ruth is survived by her nephew, Leonel Palma and wife Maria of Stratford two great nieces, Yahaira Palma of Dumas, and Suzzette Palma of Stratford two great nephews, Leonel Palma Jr. and Jesus E. Palma, both of Dumas one cousin, Olga Ramirez of Dumas and numerous other family members.
The family will be at 119 S. Chestnut in Stratford.
