Rene Torres

Rene Torres, 58 of Dumas, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Garcia as celebrant. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 6 pm on Thursday. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Rene was born December 5, 1956 in Huanusco, Zacatecas, MX to Jose and Esperanza (Diaz De Leon) Torres. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1976. Rene was an avid sports fan and hard and dedicated worker. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two nephews: Refugio 'Cuco' Torres and Guadalupe Huerta; brothers: Santos Torres; and sister: Rosio Garcia. Rene is survived by his wife Sophia of the home; daughter: April Michelle Torres of Dumas; nine brothers: Alejandro Torres and wife Ramona of Mexico, Sergio Torres and wife Christina,Juan Manuel and wife Maria Elena, Joel Torres and wife Solia, Jose Luis Torres and wife Socorro, Hector Torres and wife Nellie, Rodrigo Torres and wife Hilda all of CA, Humberto Torres and wife Juana of Amarillo, Jamie Torres and wife Rebeca of Dumas; six sisters: Cristina Huerta and husband Salvador of Ft. Worth, TX, Esperanza Ortiz and husband Antonio, Lourdes Martinez and husband Gregorio, Maria Sandoval and husband Raul, Clara Luz Nunez and husband Manuel all of CA, Sylvia Aguayo and husband Jesus of Des Moines; ninety-four nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation to benefit the patients at Baptist St Anthony's Hospice, 1600 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106.
