Rex J. Williams, 86 of Stratford passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Friday, August 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Stratford with Rev. Mark Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Stratford Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Rex was born on January 1, 1932 in Blanchard, OK to Charles and Bertha Mae (Bishop). Rex was known as a very hard worker. He worked for the railroad for 13 years, then went on to be the butcher for Butcher Browns Meat locker for 54 years. He was an avid wood worker and was very good at whittling wood. Rex could make anything out of wood. He also enjoyed working on old cars. He was a member of Heritage Bible Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his first wife, Lezzie Mae Williams and second wife, Hazel Marie Jump Williams, he is preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Jeraldine McGinnis; grandchildren: Ardos Lynn, Richard, Kincaid, Eddie Williams, J.R. Williams; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Tara; and 11 siblings.
Rex is survived by his children: Bertha Williams-Ramsey of North Port, FL, Rex Williams and wife Gloria of Canadian, OK, Freda Dickey and husband Royce of West Fork, AR, Shirley McGinnis and husband Robert of Stratford, TX, Evelyn Brannum and husband Freddie of Amarillo, TX, and Randy Williams and wife Ellen of Shawnee, OK; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
