Rhett Garcia

Lorena Laurett Garcia, 50 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. A
Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at
Morrison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jose Contreras, officiating. Arrangements are under the
direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Rhett was born on October 1, 1973, in Winnemucca, NV to Efren and Olga (Dominguez) Garcia.
She graduated from Dumas High School and later graduated from West Texas A & M with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She took pride in her
profession as a Teacher and Reading Counselor at Morningside Grade School. Rhett was an avid
animal lover; she loved and cherished her pets (Tito, Chico, Nacho, Chito). She was a warm-
hearted person always willing to help others. She was also involved in hosting foreign exchange
students and loved to travel. She hosted students from Germany, Spain, Japan, Australia, and
Portugal. Rhett will be dearly missed and leave behind a lasting impression on her family and all
who knew her.
Rhett is survived by her parents; Efren and Olga Garcia of Dumas, TX; brother: Tony Garcia and
wife Nidia of Dumas, TX; nieces: Bethany Dominguez, Jocelyn Dominguez, Eleyna Garcia, and
Alyssa Garcia.
