Richard Brooks Bucy, 85, of Sanger, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 7, 2020, in Denton, Texas.
Born on November 19, 1934, in Raymondville, Texas, Richard was the son of Nina Mildred (Peters) and Lee Price Bucy. On December 31, 1964, he married Dixie Lee Spurlock in Brownsville, Texas.
He attended West Texas State University, where he obtained his Masters Degree. Richard went on to become a teacher and then administrator for Sunray ISD for the next 37 years until his retirement. Bored with retirement, Richard took up cooking and began a catering business, which he did for several years.
He was an active member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #418, Texas State Teachers Association, and Secondary & Elementary Principles Association of Texas.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Dixie and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Smith, and husband Glen of Midland and his son Dale Bucy and wife Hedi of Sanger. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren who also survive him, Madison Smith and husband Nick and their children Sophie, Lexi, and Levi all of Keene, Reace Killebrew of Lubbock, Mayson Smith of Cleburne, Katelyn Killebrew of Lubbock, Tanner Killebrew of Midland, Jeremy Schaffer and wife Mary of Decatur, J. T. Schaffer, and wife Jordan and their daughter Chandler of Aubrey, Samantha Thiessen and husband Ryan of Chicago, Jordan Brown and her children Colt and Dixie Rae Brown, and Josh Bucy and his children Maddox and Logan of Springfield, MO.
A visitation for Richard will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. He will then be transported to Dumas, Texas, for funeral services on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 10 o'clock at the First United Methodist Church of Sunray, Texas. Burial will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
