Rodney 'Rod' Williams, 70 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018. The family will hold private family burial at Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors.
Rodney was born on July 10, 1948 in Dimmitt, TX to Paul and Betty Jo (Summers) Williams. He attended school in Friona, TX and later in Dumas, where he graduated from Dumas High School. He then attended Oklahoma University very briefly until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in an Air Defense Artillery unit during Vietnam and was also an Army Ranger. Rodney was awarded the bronze star for valor during his service. After his time in the military, Rodney later received his Associates Degree from Amarillo College and was employed as an Engineering Manager with Windstream.
Rodney had a very technical mind and had an extensive knowledge of computers. He loved to watch game shows and golf. Rodney was a very hardworking man and did all he could to support his family, whom he loved very much. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs: Ginger and Tobie.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father; his brother, Don Williams; and the love of his life, Andrea Flores Williams.
He is survived by his children: John Paul Williams and wife Maria, Misty Williams, all of Dumas, Tyrel Williams and wife Nicole of Mobeetie, TX, Lance Williams and wife Melissa of Corpus Christi, TX, Billy Gail Williams and wife Belinda of Amarillo, TX; his mother, Betty Jo Williams of Quanah, TX; sisters: Vivian Thomas and Paula Williams, both of Quanah, TX; brother Doyle Williams of Quanah, TX; grandchildren: Arthur, Noah, Gideon, Wyatt, James, Amber, Luke, Quincy, Blake and Bryce.
The family will be at 620 Bennett Drive.
