Rogelio G. Ortiz

Rogelio G. Ortiz, 71 of Dumas, passed on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The rosary will be recited at 6 oclock in the evening on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11 oclock in the morning on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Dumas Cemetery with Father Gabriel Garcia officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Rogelio was born on July 16, 1949 in Dumas, TX to Reymundo and Victoria (Galvan) Ortiz. He grew up in Dumas and graduated from Dumas High School in 1967. Rogelio worked for the City of Dumas for 32 years and after retirement, went to work for Lewis Contruction for 7 years, Potter Trucking for four months and Adams Affiliates for 13 years. He was united in marriage on April 23, 1985 in Moore County to Margarita. Rogelio loved to collect almost anything and enjoyed hunting for hidden treasures with his metal detector. He also enjoyed going for drives and enjoying the countryside and scenery. Above all he adored his grandchildren, they were his life. Rogelio was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: George Ortiz; four brothers: Santana, Jesse, Ramon and Juan Ortiz. Rogelio is survived by his wife, Margarita of the home; children: Martin Ortiz and wife Jeanna of Amarillo, TX, Ernesto Ortiz and wife Nellie of Dumas, TX and Eugene Ortiz and wife Jessica of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers: Reymundo Ortiz of Mena, AR and Joe Ortiz of Dumas, TX; sister: Herlinda Martinez and husband Ricky of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren: Alexis, Noah, Gavin, Kazzlynn, Ernesto Jr. and McKaylee; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
