Roy E. Red Humphries, 76, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Middlewell Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Hart, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Red Humphries was born November 7, 1932 in Dover, Oklahoma to Mitchell and Clara Humphries. In 1950 he graduated from Dover High School. He attended Oklahoma A M, in Stillwater, Okla where he studied animal husbandry. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. On August 30, 1957 he married Sue and she preceded him in death on July 14, 1980. He began working for Phillips Petroleum Company September 24, 1951 as a Laborer C earning 1.49 per hour. He held many positions with the company until his retirement in 1999. Red had been a resident of Moore County for 56 years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bert Humphries and granddaughter, Avry Graves.
Survivors include; daughter, Susan Graves and husband, Mark of Dumas; granddaughter, Kory Evenson and husband Luke; grandsons, Chet Graves and Fiance, Tiffany, Ivan Graves, all of Dumas, Buck Humphries and wife, Stephanie of Winfield, KS, Garry Humphries and wife Gari of Tyrone, Okla; sister Dorothy Clark and husband, J.C. of Albuquerque, NM. and 8 great-grandchildren
The family suggests memorials be to Sunset Elementary School, Avry Graves Memorial Scholarship, 5025 County Road R, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at the home of Kory Evenson, 5501 FM 722, Dumas.
