Ruben 'Palmita' Palma, 86 of Cactus, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. The Mass will be celebrated at 10 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cactus. Interment will follow at Stratford Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Ruben was born on August 23, 1930 in Phoenix, AZ to Timothy and Angela (Ortega) Palma. He was united in marriage to Paula Banda; she preceded him in death on December 18, 2010. Ruben was a hard-dedicated worker. He worked for Swift for many years until his retirement. Ruben loved music and was an accomplished guitar and accordion player. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter: Flor Isela Palma and a brother Jesus Palma.
Ruben is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Hernandez and husband Ramon and Graciela Palma all of Cactus; grandchildren: Crystal, Rebecca, Jasmine, and Natalie Reyes and Ariel Olivas; great-grandchildren: Anthony Izaiah Gonzales and Sofia Camilla Zubia; and nephew: Leonel Palma.
