Ruth Bowen, 94, formerly of Sunray, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Sunray Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Seth Seale, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Cemetery in Dumas. A family visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Morrison Funeral Home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ruth was born November 29, 1921 in Charleston, AR to Oscar and Ina (Mitchell) Fitzgerald. On May 12, 1942, she married Glen Bowen and made Sunray her home. He preceded her in death in 2013. Ruth had many hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and embroidery, as well as gardening and canning. Ruth was also an avid birdwatcher. She considered everyone she met her friend and enjoyed taking care of others. Ruth was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Sunray and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Glen, she is preceded in death by her parents; a son: Garry Bowen; four brothers: Argus, Rufus, Bob, and Bill; and a sister: Kathlene.
Ruth is survived by her sons: Julian Glen Bowen and wife Jane of Hammon, OK and Jammie Dale Bowen of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Julie Zumwalt and husband Chris of Ft. Worth, TX, Stacy Bowen of Hammon, OK, Donna Bowen of Plano, TX, Carrie Eaton and husband Paul of Albuquerque, NM and Amy Newlon and husband David of Amarillo, TX; daughter in law: Patsy Bain and husband Robert of Amarillo, TX; and 4 great grandchildren.
