Ruth Finger Holland

Ruth Finger Holland, 86 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015. Private Graveside Services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Ruth was born on January 26, 1929, to the late Cecil and Nellie Finger in Alvin, TX. She was united in marriage in 1950 to Clay T. (Pat) Holland, Jr. Ruth graduated from Alvin High School, attended Sam Houston State University, and earned a BBA from Sul Ross State University, a master\x92s in Education, and an administrative certification from West Texas A&M University. Ruth was an educator. She taught 3-12 as well as serve as a Curriculum Director, Administrative Assistant and Assistant Superintendent of Dumas ISD. She was active in educational organizations. Ruth organized the Panhandle Council of Women School Executives and served as its first president. She was also President of Region 16 Supervision and Curriculum Development Organization, President of the Panhandle School Leaders Association, President of the Panhandle Branch of the International Reading Association, Secretary of Region 16 Retired Educators Association of Dumas and was on the Texas State Council of Compensatory Educators. Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dumas and an ordained elder. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brother: Hank Finger; and granddaughter: Jamie Holland. Ruth is survived by four sons: John and Gail Holland, Bill and LaWanna Holland, Jim and Diane Holland, Mike and Roxanne Holland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters. The family suggests memorials be to Moore County Hospital Foundation, 224 E 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
