Samuel Park Aldrich

Samuel Park Aldrich Sr., 93 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of the church, officiating. Private family burial will take place in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Sam was born on July 17, 1924 in Thomas, OK to Frederick and Millie (Park) Aldrich. Just before graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country as a Radioman 2nd Class. He returned home and would eventually go on to receive his diploma from Montrose High School in Colorado. He was united in marriage to Harriet Moore on August 26, 1942 In Montrose, Colorado. The couple would move to Dumas in 1956 where they would raise their family. After working for Gordon Stores and Levines, Sam would establish Aldrich's Menswear which he and his wife would operate until their retirement in 1986. Sam loved to golf and could be found on the course most every day; he even recorded two holes in one. Sam was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2009; son Gregory Michael Aldrich in 1966; and his siblings. He is survived by his son: Sam Aldrich II and wife Lora of Dumas; granddaughters: Stephanie Aldrich Milbourn and husband Curtis of San Angelo, TX, Jennifer Cockrill and husband Tony of Allen, TX, Lisa Aldrich of Lubbock, TX; great grandchildren: Sarah Feese and husband Andrew of Houston, TX, Gregory Carrell, Stephen Carrell, Lauren Lopez and Noah Lopez, all of Lubbock; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to Open Heart Hospice, 508 N Taylor, Amarillo TX, 79107. The family will be at 203 Carson.
