Sarah Keener, 81, of Stratford, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 o'clock in the morning on Friday, June 1, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Damon Stalvey officiating. Interment will follow in the Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home.
Sarah was born on March 13, 1937 in Stratford TX to Tom and Frankie (Naugle) Lavake. She grew up in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School. She was united in marriage to Sherrydon Keener on May 29, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death in 1996. Sarah spent her life farming side by side with Sherrydon. Sarah was a very strong willed lady who had a deep love and devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren. She also had a unique and very close relationship with her brother and sister that was very special. Even in her last days, she was always concerned for the well being of her daughter over her self, showing a true mother's love. Sarah was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sons: Ricky, Floyd and Steve; and brother Charlie Lavake.
She is survived by her daughter Jean Ann Haggard and husband Vence of Benbrook, TX; brother: Dr. Tommy Lavake of Arlington, TX; sister: Barbara Hite of Amarillo, TX; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
