Scott D. McGinley, 67, of Dumas, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2023, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chauncy Spencer, pastor of Christ Community Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4 o’clock in the afternoon until 8 o’clock in the evening. Arrangements are entrusted with Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Scott was born August 13, 1956, in Dumas to Randall and Mary B. (Roberts) McGinley. He adored his parents and took up the family sport of golf in which he earned a varsity letter in golf during high school. After graduating from Dumas High School in 1974, Scott continued to make Dumas his home and went to work for Valero where he retired after 20 years. He dedicated his life to raising his daughters Mikki and Kimi and was a wonderful granddad to his grandchildren. He spent many hours watching golf and Law and Order on television. Scott was an avid outdoorsman and would take any opportunity to be in the mountains. Scott was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Beatles; he truly enjoyed all kinds of rock and roll music. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Scott is preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Short Bass and the mother of his children: Michelle Pilgrim
He is survived by his daughters: Mikki McGinley of Dumas and Kimi McGinley of Amarillo; sister: Randy Bass of Sunray; grandchildren: Cynthia Lawrence of Dumas, Ashton Russell of Midland, Jocelynn Garcia of Amarillo, and Aidan McGinley of Dumas. Scott is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews and many other extended family and friends.
