Shanty J. Jinkins Sr., 72 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o\x92 clock in the morning on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev Jay McGaughy, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Shanty was born on March 29, 1942, in Iowa Park, TX to E.J. and Dorothy (Blaylock) Jinkins. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sargent; he retired after 20 years of service. Shanty was awarded the following: Air Force Good Conduct Ribbon, four times, Vietnam Theatre Ribbon, Instructor Ribbon and several more.
While serving in Germany he met and married the love of his life Margot Spies on February 8, 1963. After 52 years of blissful marriage, they were still very much in love.
Shanty was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1009. He enjoyed working on electronics and wiring and especially loved working on cars with his children.
His preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Eddy Jinkins; grandson: Seth Drew; nephew: Spencer Jinkins.
Shanty is survived by his wife, Margot, of the home; four sons: Charles Jinkins and wife Leslie, Emory Jinkins and wife Teri, Shanty Jinkins, II and wife Babette, Gerhardt Jinkins and wife Niki all of Dumas; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
