Sharon Scroggs

Sharon Scroggs, 79 of Dumas passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Fred Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Sharon was born on February 27, 1944, in Orange County, CA to James and Evelyn (Griffin) Shelton. She married Wilford Scroggs on October 29, 1971, in Amarillo, TX. Sharon owned and operated Benai’s Salon for 15 years where she was known for doing excellent nails. She loved sparkle and bling in everything she did. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and children. Sharon enjoyed cooking and was a longtime leader in 4H. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Amarillo and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: and daughter: Shawn McKibben.

Sharon is survived by her husband Wilford of the home; sons: Dewey Hutcherson II and wife Rhonda of Dumas, TX, Tracy Hutcherson of Raleigh, NC; daughter: Boniene Scroggs and husband Vic Shepherd of Augusta, WV; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother: Rob Shelton and wife Mary of Dallas, TX; sister: Jimmie Kay Lamb of Lubbock, TX; and most beloved friend: Virginia “Monkey” Hicks of Amarillo, TX.
