Socorro Garcia

Socorro Garcia, 89 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Sunray Church of Christ withEfrain Aranda speaking.  Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Socorro was born on June 22, 1934, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Pedro and Sara Zapata Pina. She moved to Dumas in 1980 after the death of her husband to be closer to family. She enjoyed sewing and making blankets for all her family. She was also a great gardener who took great pride in her flowers and plants. She enjoyed playing the loteria but her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed cooking for them and was known for her tortillas and hot sauce. She also enjoyed taking pictures with her family at family gatherings. She was a member of the Sunray Church of Christ.

Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joaquin Garcia, her children: Gloria Estella
and Josefina Garcia along with her son in laws: Hilberto Trevino and David Valenzuela.

Guadalupe and wife Noemi Garcia of Amarillo, TX and Angel and wife Renee Garcia of Amarillo, TX; 40
grandchildren, 92 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
