Suzanne Ann Clark, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in Dumas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2009 at First Street Church of Christ with Brent Clark and Art Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors
Suzanne Ann Clark was born into a farming family, July 22, 1932 in McKinney, Texas to the late, W.C. and Julia Vaughn. The family lived in Hurlwood, Texas when she was a small child. When she was in the third grade the family moved to Shallowater where she graduated from high school. She worked for the Caldwell Gin in Shallowater for a time. On January 7, 1950 she married Jimmy Clark. They were happily married for 59 years.
The Clarks moved from Shallowater to Dimmitt in 1957 to farm and moved back to Shallowater in 1959. In 1967 Jim and Ann and two of Jims brothers and their wives moved to Dumas where they have been an active part of the community. Ann was a farm wife her entire marriage and the harvest workers looked forward to seeing her vehicle drive up knowing they would be well-fed. She was an avid gardener, and loved her flower gardens. She volunteered for many organizations, including Foster Parents in Lubbock and Dumas, 4-H Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Lubbock Christian University Associates, Moore County Pink Ladies and dedicated untold hours in her church. Ann had been a resident of Dumas for 42 years and was a member of First Street Church of Christ.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the love and care of their wife, mother and grandmother. Words cant express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks for all the kindness and compassion given to the entire family by the staff of Memorial Hospice and Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include; her husband Jimmy of the home; sons, Quintin Clark and wife Neta of Whitehouse, Gordon Clark and wife, Cheryl of Dumas, Garry Gann and wife Rea of Lake Jackson; daughter, Sharon Hamilton and husband, Bill of Amarillo; brother, Scott Vaughan of Shallowater; grandsons, Justin Clark and wife, Camie of Amarillo, Zane Hamilton and wife, Tonya of Plano, Blake Clark of Dumas, and Ethan Gann of Lake Jackson; granddaughter, Sherry Gann of Lake Jackson; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Kyla Clark of Amarillo and Taylor Hamilton of Plano.
The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd St, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 517 Bradley in Dumas.
