Thomas Lloyd Harp

Thomas Lloyd Harp, 75, of Sunray, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Sunray with Pastor Jori Buchenau officiating and Pastor David McGaughy assisting. Private family burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Thomas was born on February 9, 1942 in Durant, OK to P.L. and Gladys (Sorrels) Harp. At the age of 6, the family moved to Sunray where Thomas would grow up and later graduate from Sunray High School. He married Ila in 1961; she preceded him in death in 1970. He later married Gaye in 1971; she also preceded him in death in 1998. Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and was discharged shortly thereafter to care for his wife Ila. Thomas was a very hard worker and displayed this in the way that he owned and operated Harp Supply Inc. in Sunray. He also farmed and enjoyed working his cattle. Thomas loved to travel, fish and work on racecars with his brother Harry. He was also an avid sports fan. He and his wife made sure to never miss one of their children's games. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sunray. In addition to his wives, he was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cora Ellen Teel. Thomas is survived by his daughters: Valerie Cartrite and husband Tommy of Sunray, Carol Fletcher and husband Erick of Pottsboro and Melissa Mullins of Whitehouse, TX; sons: Brent McCallie and wife Karla of San Angelo and Barry Harp and wife Shelly of Swaziland, Africa; sisters: Gladys Ann Kennedy and Janie Kirkpatrick both of Durant, OK; brother: Harry Harp and wife Jo Lynn of Sunray; step-daughters: Kassie Bradley and husband Justin of Dimmitt and Kerri Gilley and husband Gary of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests , with gratitude, memorials be made to Superreeve Medical Fund, 19800 Quail Hollow Dr., Canyon, TX 79015 or Ronald McDonald House, 1501 Streit Dr., Amarillo, TX 79106.
