Thurman G. Hatfield, 85 of Dumas, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 4, 2014. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 3 oclock in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Curt Hamlin of First Baptist Church, officiating and Bryan Cooper, Chaplain of The Heritage, assisting. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 2 oclock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Thurman was born in Hartwell, AR on October 3, 1929 to Thomas and Vina Hatfield. He graduated from high school in Huntsville and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Thurman loved music he played with the Razorback Band and the R.O.T.C Marching Band. He worked for Diamond Shamrock for 48 years he retired in 1998. Thurman married Rhea Chappell in 1954 and were members of First Baptist Church. He sang in the Adult Choir and the Happy Times Choir.
He is preceded in death by two brothers.
Thurman is survived by his wife, Rhea of the home a son Kenneth Hatfield and wife Christy of Amarillo, TX stepson: Charles Chappell of Dumas, TX stepdaughter: Cheryl Elder and husband Bob of Amarillo, TX two grandsons: Price Hatfield and wife Carrie and Bradley Hatfield all of Houston, TX stepgranddaughter: Tera Wisenbaker and husband Glenn greatgranddaughter: Shelby Wisenbaker and greatgrandson: Devon Wisenbaker.
