Tom \x93Hoky\x94 Hokanson, 82 of Dumas, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 11 o\x92clock in the morning on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Hokanson Family Farm Cemetery, 11894 Stone Road, followed by Memorial Service at 2 o\x92clock in the afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of the church, officiating, with Milton Pax, assisting. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Hoky was born on July 28, 1932 in Round Rock, TX to Alex and Olga (Walter) Hokanson. He married the love of his life, Shirley Byrd, on November 24, 1956 in Dumas. Hoky honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
Hoky had been a resident of the community since 1946 when he starting farming with Roy Carroll until his retirement in 2005. Roy was like a father to Hoky. His greatest love was his family and participating in family events. Farming was next; he loved every day of it. Hoky was a member of VFW Post 9022. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Hoky\x92s Sunday school class with teacher Milton Pax was the highlight of his week.
He is preceded in death by Roy and Gladys Carroll; parents: Alex and Olga Hokanson; brothers: Andrew and John Hokanson; sister: Lorraine Borchers.
Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; sons: Roy Carroll Hokanson and wife LeeAnn of Dumas, TX, Raymond Alton Hokanson and wife Tracy of Arlington, TX; grandchildren: Shawn Carroll Hokanson and wife Amanda of Dumas, Andrew Lee Hokanson and wife Becca of Amherst, TX, Crystal Dawn Hokanson and partner Amber of Fairfield, TX; great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Janae, Camden, Bailee, Rylee, Bentlee and sisters: Aprilla Hokanson and JoAnn Gerron both of McKinney, TX.
