Twila J. Morris, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene in Dumas. Rev. Steve Swanson, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Twila was born on February 27, 1928 in Elk County, Kansas to John Riley and Lola Hughes Bright. She has been a resident of Moore County since 1957. Twila was united in marriage to James J. Morris on April 21, 1946 in Elk City, Kansas. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Dumas.
Twila was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was very talented, and enjoyed sewing and quilting various projects for her family and friends. She also loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. One of her greatest joys was her grandbabies. Twila was an excellent cook, and always had something in the oven for her family to enjoy. She was a very loving and selfless lady, who was always there for anyone who needed her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Wilbur Bright, and her sister, Claudine Wells.
Twila leaves behind her husband James of the home two daughters, Linda Stewart of Amarillo, and Liz Singer and husband Dennis of Dumas two brothers, Russell Bright and wife Norma of St. John, Kansas, and Willard Bright and wife Sarah of Independence, Kansas one sister, Margaret Vestal and husband Bud of Independence eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Coldwater Manor, P. O. Box 1189, Stratford, TX 79084.
The family will be at 508 Mills in Dumas.
