Velda Cathey Jobe, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Velda was born on July 9, 1935 in Luther, Ok to Arthur and Bessie (Long) Weber. She married Dallas Bassham and to this union 5 children were born, through lifes transitions, she later was united in marriage to Clovis Cathey on July 27, 1973 in Dumas; he preceded her in death in 1982. Velda was a very caring lady who always put others first. She had a great love for animals and the family had all kinds of pets growing up. In her later years, she married George Jobe whom also preceded her in death. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husbands Clovis and George, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother: Georgie Weber.
Velda is survived by her sons: Keith Bassham and wife Shari of Springfield, MO, Mike Bassham of Garden City, KS, and Bill Bassham and wife Kay of Plano, TX; daughters: Frances Martin and husband Jimmy of Rio Rancho, NM, Sharon King and husband Mike and Sheryl Best all of Amarillo, TX; step children: Larry Cathey and wife Violet of Canyon, TX and Keith Cathey of South Texas; brother: James Weber and wife Julie of Yukon, OK; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
