Velma Jean Chisum Blake

Velma Jean Chisum Blake went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2021. Velma was born to Thomas and Oveta Chisum on April 5,1924 and live the majority of her life in Stratford Texas. Velma married her life long love Homer Douglas Blake on May 21,1945 in Guymon Oklahoma. After the war they made their home in Stratford Texas. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Stratford for many years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United states. Velma loved do oil paintings and was a long-time member of the Tri-County Arts Association. She enjoyed visiting with any and everyone and playing table games. Velma moved to Corsicana in 2013 to be closer to her family who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years, 2 sisters Viola and Violet and one brother Virgil Chisum. She is survived by her son Tom Blake and his wife Wanda of Streetman, TX., Grandsons Doug Blake and wife Amy of Friendswood TX., Craig Blake and wife Meaghen of Marshall TX., Kirt Blake and wife Rosa of Sulphur Springs, TX. And 8 beloved great grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Rapid City, SD., Kaitlyn Sachs, Sulphur Springs, TX., Preston Simms, Sulphur Springs, TX., Lexi Blake, Friendswood, TX., Kendell Blake, Stephenville, TX., Cole Blake, Friendswood, TX., Kason Blake, Sulphur Springs, TX., Megan Blake, Sulphur Springs, TX. and one great great granddaughter Emma Sachs, Sulphur Springs, TX. Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home in Stratford, TX. on Sunday, January 10,2021 from l pm to 7pm and Celebration of Life will be at First Baptist Church in Stratford, TX. on Monday January 11, at 10am with graveside to follow at Stratford Cemetery.
