Velda Hogue Haldeman, 72 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Danny Courtney, pastor of Fritch Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening on Thursday in Morrison Memorial Chapel.
Velma was born on May 7, 1950 to Carl and Ilene (Gentry) Hogue. On June 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to David Haldeman in Sunray, TX; he preceded her in death in 2001. Velma had worked at Pizza Hut with her daughter as the phone operator. She had a special place in her heart for children and was the lead foster parent at Buckner’s Children Home in Dalhart. She was a very crafty lady who enjoyed crochet, sewing, cooking, and canning. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: David, brother: Carl Hogue, Jr., nephew: Korey Hogue.
Velma is survived by daughter: Carla Calvert of the home: brother: Gary Wayne Hogue and wife Teresa of Ada, OK; sisters-in-law: Teresa Hogue of Fritch, TX and Christine Dailey of San Antonio, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family requests with gratitude memorial be made to Autism Society, 6110 Executive Boulvard, Suite 305, Rockville, MA.
