Vernon Frances Habekott

Vernon Jimmie Habekott, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 09, 2011. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at New Hope Worship Center in Dumas. Rev. Steve Villines, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Jimmie was born on February 26, 1929 in Arnett, Oklahoma to Virgil and Eutha Habekott. He served his country in the US Army, fighting in the Korean Conflict. Jimmie was married to Yulanda Gilman, and they had shared thirtyfive years together in the Dumas community. Prior to his retirement, Jimmy was employed as a chef at some of our local restaurants. He was musically talented, playing piano and most string instruments. He was a member of a band when he was younger. He was a beloved husband, father and brother, and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sons, Billy Habekott, Robin Eugene Habekott and Jimmy Dale Habekott. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Yulanda of the home sons, Tommy Habekott of Florida and Mike Habekott of Woodward, OK daughters, Christy Anderson of Dumas, Diana Folley of Amarillo, and Janice Crammer of Oklahoma City one sister, Twyla Hardin of Plainview ten grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. The family will be at 613 Cedar in Dumas.
