Vidal Lucero Jr., 45 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Cornerstone Church in Dumas. Rev. Frank Gordoa, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Vidal was born on January 24, 1967 in Hereford, Texas to Vidal and Flora Lovato Lucero. He attended school in Dumas, graduating from Dumas High School. He has been a resident of the Dumas community for fortyone years. He worked in the construction industry, and was employed as a Supervisor with DII.
Vidal was a beloved and devoted son, father and brother. He was a member of Cornerstone Church, where he actively served. He loved going to church and working with the children who attended there. He was very active in the community, coaching both baseball and soccer for the area youth. Family was very important to Vidal, and he loved spending time with his children. He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vidal Lucero Sr., and his brother, Ralph Lucero.
Vidal is survived by his mother, Flora Lucero of Dumas one daughter, Sidney Lucero of Dumas one son, Luis Olivas of Dumas four brothers, Robert Lovato of Happy, Ernest Lucero and wife Lori, Alex Lucero and wife Sally, and Martin Lucero, all of Dumas and five sisters, Mabel Valenciano and husband Socorro, Loraine Arenivar and husband Mario, Pauline Lucero and husband Gerardo, Lydia Rodriguez, and Peggy Rodriguez and husband Ruben and one brotherinlaw, Rene Rodriguez, all of Dumas.
The family will be at 126 N. Klein in Dumas.
