W.A. Spur Spurlock

W.A. "Spur" Spurlock, 84 of Sunray, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 4 oclock in the afternoon on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Lane Memorial Cemetery with Jonathan Zerby officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. W.A. was born on March 15, 1935 in Dumas, TX to Harvey and Blanche Spurlock. He grew up in Sunray and graduated from Sunray High School. W.A. honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1961. After his service, he returned to Sunray where he farmed. W.A. was a very talented man who could make anything. He was artistically gifted when it came to painting, working with metal, clay and wood. He was a true animal lover and never met a stranger. W.A. was known for his infectious smile and friendliness. W.A. was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carolyn, daughter Julie Sutterfield, son Jay Spurlock and sister Dixie Bucy. W.A. is survived by his wife, Janice Spurlock of the home; grandchildren: Audrey Sutterfield of Amarillo, TX, Cameron Spurlock of Houston, TX and Dylan White of Houston, TX; step sons: Mark Wisdom and wife Bridgette of Arlington, VA, Kevin Wisdom and wife Ashley of Toutle, WA and Greg Wisdom of Everett, WA; brother in law: Richard Bucy of Sanger, TX; step grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to the DigIt Bible Camp; Po Box 81, Sunray, TX 79086. The family will be at 1201 Triangle Dr., Sunray, TX 79084.
