Wallace LaVon Ditzler, 80 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Fobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home.
LaVon was born on July 31, 1942, in Shamrock, TX to Wallace and Mavis (Hugg) Ditzler. He grew up in McLean before moving to Dumas in 1954. LaVon married Donna Alexander in 1963 in Dumas where they made their home and raised their children. LaVon drove a milk truck, bread truck and also a coffee truck for Cain’s and was one of their top salesman. He also drove a school bus up until last week for over 20 plus years. When he was younger he owned a gas station and currently owned The Filling Station and Wimpy’s along with his wife. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gambling and racing cars. LaVon was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding his family and friends. He was of Christian Faith and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
LaVon was preceded in death by his parents; son: Wally Ditzler; and brother in law: Don Alexander.
LaVon is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; daughter: Belynda Jolly and Stan Garland of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Kayla Gillespie and husband Stan, Jace Ditzler and fiancé Jessica, Cody Jolly and wife Heather, Koree Catillo, Karlee Jolly and Carrie Ramirez; 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Eva Mae Reger and husband Rick of Graham, TX and Ronda Bynum and husband Kevin of Spearman, TX along with numerous extended family members.
