Dub Poyner, 61, formerly of Dumas, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Dub Poyner was born December 14, 1947 in Dalhart, Texas to Clayton Oliver and Emma Poyner. He graduated from Dumas High School with the class of 1965. On February 3, 1979 he married Camelia Cam Terrell in Clayton, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2008. He started his career in law enforcement in Perryton before serving with the Dumas Police Department for many years. He then owned and operated Poyner Security until his retirement. After retirement Dub and Cam operated The Canadian River Caf. Dub was a long time resident of Dumas before moving to Fritch and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Wimmer and grandson, Brandon Karnes.
Survivors include; daughters, Terrie Sova and Kurtis Bechtel of Fritch, Rhonda Palmero and husband Ken of Trumbull, CT and Misty Mitchell and husband Dana of Rockwall; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to the Fritch Fire DeptEMS, PO Box 758, Fritch, TX 79036 or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
The family will be at 9706 Pampa Rd. in Fritch.
