Wanda LaRuth Cornutt Cassel, 83, formerly of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Dumas with Rev. John Sanders, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens, with OES 653 services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Wanda LaRuth Cornutt Cassel, retired bookkeeper, was embraced by our Lords loving arms on November 10, 2012. She was born on April 21, 1929, to Leola Proctor Cornutt and James Daniel Cornutt in Shallowater, Texas. She was united in marriage to William S. Cassel, who preceded her in death. Wanda was a 50 year Life member of OES 653, for whom she served 2 different terms as Worthy Matron and untold hours of service to the Chapter. She also served as Mother Advisor to the Dumas Assembly 102, ORG, when it was active. Wanda and Bill were also volunteers with the National Park Service at Chimney Hollow at Lake Meredith, where they made many lifelong friends.
After retiring from FoxworthGalbraith, Wanda and Bill moved to Lake Buchanan and built their home. After his death, she moved to Lago Vista in 2006. Wanda was a selfless, sweet woman who touched the hearts of all who met her and at long last her pain has ended and she is whole.
Preceded her in death were her mother, father, brother, James Otis Cornutt, and dear husband, William Bill Scott Cassel.
She is survived by children, Teresa Woods and husband Ronnie, Duane Cassel, Debra Eubanks and husband Ron, Mariann Garcia and husband Michael as near as a sister could be, Mary Melnynchuk 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 greatgreat grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will miss her dearly.
