Wayne Copelin

Lewis Wayne Copelin, 87 of Sunray, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Jerry Lane officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 oclock until 7 oclock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Wayne was born on August 16, 1933 in Paducah, TX to Landon and Neoma Copelin. He was the last of four children in the Copelin house. He was united in marriage to Debbie "Minnie" Wood on February 5, 1956 in Tulia, TX. He joined the United States Army and served proudly until his honorable discharge. In a few short years, they moved to Sunray, TX where they would make their home and raise their family. Wayne loved the farm and everything associated with it. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather who loved his family very much. He and Debbie loved their family, from their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to their adopted family at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. When Wayne and Debbie could, they enjoyed going to Red River, New Mexico just to enjoy the mountain air and scenery. Wayne loved the outdoors and the activities he and his family enjoyed together from motorcycles to fishing. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert Copelin and Raford Copelin; sister, Mabel, and his wife, Debbie "Minnie" Copelin. Wayne is survived by his son, Larry Copelin and wife Sherri of Sunray, TX; daughter, Lisa Copelin of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Summer Kelly and husband Cliff of White Deer, TX and Lane Copelin and wife Kelley of San Antonio, TX; great grandchildren: Averi, Liam, Addison and Zoie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins around the country.
