Wayne Smith, 90 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 o'clock on the morning of Monday, September 14, 2015 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Wayne was born on June 27, 1925 in Littlefield, TX to L.O. and Ada (Shackleford) Smith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Wayne was united in marriage to Avis Vaughan in 1943, in Altus, OK.
Wayne was involved in farming and farmed until he was 85 years old. Wayne also loved to fish. He was a member of First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Wayne is survived by his wife Avis, of the home; two sons: Michael Smith and wife Ginger of Tuscola, TX and David Smith of Dumas, TX; sister: Vaneta Fields of Marble Falls, TX; granddaughter: Kayla Smith of Vancouver, WA; two nieces and one nephew.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
