Wendell O. Stacy, 91 of Stratford, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 10 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Stratford Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 o’clock that morning at First Baptist Church with Glenn White officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 o’clock in the evening until 7 o’clock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Wendell was born on July 3, 1933, in Lindsay, OK to William O. and Evelyn (Hill) Stacy. He grew up in Anton where he graduated from Anton High School. After his graduation, Wendell honorably served his country in the United States Army in Okinawa at an Anti-Aircraft Radar Station from 1952 until 1954. He returned to Anton where he married Nelda in 1955 and the couple moved to Stratford in 1966 where they made their home. Wendell was a hard-working farmer who spent most of his time on the farm providing for his family. He also enjoyed supporting his children and his grandchildren in all their activities. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stratford.
Wendell is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nelda in 2019 and three sisters: Billie Harvey, Willa Mae Price and Oral Perry.
Wendell is survived by his daughters: Debbie Stone of Amarillo, TX and LaRonda Stacy of Stratford, TX; son: Wayne Stacy and wife Caren of Belvedere, CA; grandchildren: Cory Stone, Stacey Shea, Chance Albert, Skyler Albert and Parker Stacy; 8 great grandchildren and his sister: Eula Bell Buckley.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests, with gratitude, that memorials be made to Stratford EMS, PO Box 106, Stratford TX 79084.
