Wester "W.T." Lackey, 91 of Sunray, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2 oclock in the afternoon on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Seth Seale, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #224 of Dumas.
Wester was born on February 25, 1928 in Cheyenne, OK to Bue and Bessie (Huff) Lackey. Wester proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Tech Sergeant in the Lucian Islands. After completion of his service, he was united in marriage to Lois Donahoo on August 31, 1947 in Wheeler, TX and the couple would move to Sunray where they would raise their family and make their home; she preceded him in death in 2003. He went to work for Diamond Shamrock and worked there for 17 years until the strike. He then spent time logging in Washington and then went to work for the City of Sunray for a short time. He eventually went to work for Northern Natural Gas where he retired from. Wester enjoyed western movies, but his favorite pastime was fishing. He was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Lois, Wester is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Newsom and two brothers and four sisters.
Wester is survived by his children: Candus Tucker of Sunray, TX, Roxanne Seetin and husband Mike of Perry, KS and Lynn Lackey and wife Mary of Mars Hill, NC; brother: Jody Lackey and wife Zelda of Pensacola, FL; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
