Ray Chapman, 82, on January 13, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Bible Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Rick Korsmo, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ray was born on April 11, 1928 in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma to Jesse and Irene Chapman. He married Ethel Chapman on July 1, 1949 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They have shared their life together in Dumas since 1949. Ray was a superintendent for Diamond Shamrock. He retired in 1993 retired after 44 years of employment.
Ray was a veteran of the Korean War, serving his country as a corporal in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He enjoyed spending time on various woodworking projects. He had been a member of Bible Baptist Church since 1949. Ray was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, J. W. Chapman, one grandson, Cash Chapman, and one daughterinlaw, Tuesday Chapman.
Ray is survived by his wife Ethel of the home sons, Garry Chapman and wife DeAnn, and Dane Chapman and wife Jana, all of Amarillo grandchildren, Kaitlin Warrington and husband Mark of Dallas, Blythe Chapman, Kelsey Chapman, Tianne Yarbrough, and Cooper Chapman, all of Amarillo greatgrandson, Brooks Chapman of Amarillo sisters, Helen Sweet of Borger, Marie Ashbrook of Hobbs, NM, and Vera Buttress of Broken Arrow, Ok.
