W. T. Hess, 89 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. Bryan Gary, pastor of 9th and Bliss Church of Christ will be officiating. Mr. Hess will lie in state from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
W.T. was born on September 5, 1922 in Erick, Oklahoma to William Clarence and Bertie Davis Hess. He served his country in the US Army. W.T. was united in marriage to Edna Loraine Smith on August 16, 1941 in Oklahoma. They have shared their life together in the Dumas community since 1956, and were married for over seventy years. W.T. worked at Phillips Petroleum in Dumas until his retirement. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ in Dumas.
W.T. was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was very mechanical, and enjoyed working on small engines. He would repair old lawnmowers and sale them. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting fishing. He spent a lot of enjoyable times with his wife at Eagles Nest in New Mexico. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clarence and Bertie Hess one brother, Leon Hess two sisters, Levelle Webster and Janell Norman and one grandson, Shane Hess.
W.T. is survived by his wife, Loraine of the home two sons, Gary Hess and wife Evelyn of Bedford, Texas and Eddy Hess and wife Cyndy of Amarillo one daughter, Thurmelda Moore and husband Ladin of Amarillo nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
