William Richard Ricky Reed

William Richard "Ricky" Reed, 62 of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020. A Private Family Graveside Service is scheduled at 4R Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:30 in the morning on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Rinne, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 oclock to 7 oclock in the evening on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson Morrison Funeral Directors. Ricky was born on July 13, 1958 in Dumas, TX to William "Bill" Reed and Margaret Reed. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1976 where he was active in sports. He then went on to attend Texas Tech where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanized Agriculture in 1980. Ricky became a private pilot in 1978 and joined the Civil Air Patrol, an organization that searched for downed planes. In 1984 he joined EMS; he was an Paramedic for 36 years. On June 6th, 1980, he married DLynn Brown. The couple had two children; Adam and Katelyn. After college, he came back to Stratford and formed a partnership with his dad, mother and brother named Bill Reed & Sons on December 1, 1982. Bill Reed & Sons was awarded several awards such as: Farmer of the Year from Sherman County Soil and Water Conservation District in 2002, Farmer of the Year 2013 KGNC and Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. Ricky became a Christian on January 28, 1971 at First Baptist Church in Stratford. He loved his community, he dedicated himself to serving in various positions. He was on the school board for 8 years, on the city council for 4 years, and Mayor of Stratford for 12 years; he left his imprint on the city of Stratford. Rickys greatest pride was his family; he was a man of faith and a man of honor and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: William Glenn Reed, Jr. William is survived by his wife DLynn, of the home; son: Adam Reed of Stratford, TX ; daughter: Katelyn Salcido and husband Cesar of Stratford, TX; mother: Margaret Reed of Stratford, TX; brother: Donal Reed and wife ViAnn of Stratford, TX; nephews: Brad Reed and wife Rachael of Sunray, TX , Brent Reed and wife Alexa of Stratford, TX; uncle: Jack Reed of Dallas, TX; numerous other extended family members.
