William “Bill” Sosebee, 95 of Dumas passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Watson, officiating. Interment will follow at later date in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Bill was born on November 27, 1927 to William and Maisie (Thornton) Sosebee. He married Wilbertta Upson on February 10, 1945 in Borger, TX and they would make Dumas their home and Bill would retire from JBS. He was known as a friendly person who seems to have never met a stranger. After his retirement he was able to spend numerous hours with his grandchildren and teaching them his strong work ethic. Bill’s ability to tell the different sizes in bolts just by feel, enabled him to rebuild a car engine with his grandson John. He had a terrible time with names though and had nicknames for all of the grandchildren, their spouses and great grandchildren. Bill was an avid Dumas Demon fan and was always listening to the radio broadcasts of every sport. He got so good at KDDD trivia that they had to ban him to a once in awhile status. Bill was also a “kind of’ Dallas Cowboy fan. He had many friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Wilbertta; daughter: Mae Adams; grandsons: Michael Jason Duby and Gregory Adams; granddaughter: Kellie Cox; great-grandsons: Austin Adams and William Duby.
Bill is survived by his daughter: Sheila Sosebee and husband Richard Kerns of Dumas; granddaughters: Jennifer Watters and husband Russell of Dumas, TX, Brenna Jones and husband John of Dumas, TX; special canine companion “Lucky Dog”; numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members and friends.
The family requests, with gratitude, memorials be made to Dumas Animal Shelter or their favorite charity.
